Amiri Baraka was African- American writer
of poetry, drama, fiction, essays and music criticism. His famous books about
jazz is “Blue people” He died on January 9, 2014 and he was 78. He died of diabetes.
He had struggled with it for a long time.
He born at Newark in America, where the
town is called “ The Brick City” and in 1934. His first name is LeRoi Jones . In
school days, he learned philosophy and religion. After that , in 1954, he joined
the US Air Force as a gunner, but he quit it. Because, he agreed with communism. A merica
oppose it, so he made the US Air Force quit. He moved to Greenwich Village,
where he began to interest in jazz. In 1962 he published “ The Myth of a Negro
Literature”. He insisted that the Negro was misunderstood by Americans. At this
time, in America, black people were discriminated. He prompted black people not
to be discriminated. In 1963, he make Blue People: Negro Music in White
America. He began to conduct the free
jazz movement and received an Obie Award. He wrote numerous books and taught many
university. He is regarded as one of the most influential African- America
writer of the 20th century.
